With simple commands managed by a single button, the geo-referenced device will reproduce the places where the visitor is with an immersive perspective, covering the entire visual space.
The viewers will be available at the entrance to the Baths during the monument's normal opening hours.

The visit, divided into ten stages, six of which with virtual reality, is based on philological reconstructions of the Baths, based on the studies of the last thirty years and curated for the scientific part by Marina Piranomonte, director of the monument. The project, in which Francesco Antinucci of the National Research Council collaborated for the technological conception, was coordinated by Francesco Cochetti of CoopCulture Less Infos>> .
The digital reconstructions included real images of some of the statues and decorations of the baths, which are now on display in various places, including the National Archaeological Museum of Naples, the Royal Palace of Caserta, which collaborated on the project, and Piazza Farnese.

The virtual tour is divided into ten chapters, corresponding to as many areas of the facility and covering all the areas of the Baths of Caracalla, revealing their various functions and giving a complete picture of the monument:
- historical introduction to the emperor Caracalla (Marcus Aurelius Severus Antoninus Pius), his figure, his wars, his policies, with a special focus on the thermal complex that still bears his name -video with audio commentary;
- the Western Gymnasium;
- the Frigidarium, a large hall with cold-water pools;
- the liveliness of the Baths, which welcomed between six thousand and eight thousand people a day, is illustrated through the story of the Roman philosopher Seneca;
- the Oriental Gymnasium where the large sculptural group of the Supplizio di Dirce, also known as the Farnese Bull, has been virtually relocated;
- the Changing Room, the Apodyterium, in the Terme dei Severi is monumental, with its high cross vault and elegant black and white mosaics;
- the Natatio, the immense open-air pool;
- the Saunas, the Laconica, and the Caldarium made up the warm course of the baths;
- the Underground, a labyrinth of several kilometres of tunnels, which ran under the area of the baths;
- the two Libraries, one in Greek and the other in Latin.

The ten stages show that the Baths of Caracalla were not just a bathing establishment or what is now called a spa: the facility had a very different importance, thanks to the two libraries, one Latin and one Greek, the meeting rooms, the large gardens, the long porticoes and the tabern located in the perimeter enclosure.
In fact, in addition to the care of the body, the great imperial baths served the function of a centre for sport, a place of study and a meeting place for the most diverse occasions. The virtual visit will allow you to grasp the complexity of the Baths of Caracalla, which, being rich in works of art and bas-reliefs with representations celebrating feats of war, can be considered a real Forum of the emperors of the Severan dynasty, which not by chance did not exist in Rome.
